The month of May shows another decrease in housing prices -- Miami showing the second lowest prices in the nation. With prices lowering, is anyone benefiting from this change?

Recently, Bloomberg.com reported growing interest in real estate investments in India, hilighting  Donald Trump Jr's announcement of the possibility of setting up a $1 Billion real estate fund for India investment.

The Ritz-Carlton chain has purchased what is currently the St. Regis on Fort Lauderdale Beach, maintaining the upscale image that is growing for the area.

The new owner's stated upon the purchase that Fort Lauderdale is.. "a sought after destination for both leisure and group business." He went on to laud the year-old waterfront resort for offering "the largest oceanfront ballroom in the city, a spacious and stylish spa and memorable ocean and Intracoastal Waterway views."

Plan Approved by Federal Reserve

On Monday, the Federal Reserve approved plans to crack down on shady and illegal lending practices in the home mortgage industry.

South Florida alone shows nearly a 50% increase in foreclosures from last year. With statistics like this, finally the Federal Reserve is stepping in to try and regulate the industry.

Foreign Real Estate Investment....

With prices dropping in the US, we're starting to see more activity from foreign real estate investors. As I recently posted, there's much activity from south of the border with Mexican investors buying up properties in Texas for instance.

What goes around comes around....

So, while we all can be angry at the mortgage and banking companies that helped to get us into the mess we are now in, private citizens also helped to create the credit and mortgage crisis.
