The month of May shows another decrease in housing prices -- Miami showing the second lowest prices in the nation. With prices lowering, is anyone benefiting from this change?
According to Harvard's Joint Center for Housing Studies 2008 Report, despite the lowering prices, folks still aren't able to afford housing. Higher interest rates and cost of homeownership in conjunction with flat or static salaries balance out the lower prices, making it hard for mid-income families as well as low income to buy a home.
But, one area of real estate that is benefiting from the lower prices are Conservationist, such as the Trust for Public Land, who purchase historic and rural lands for preservation. Besides protecting more land, the purchase of these lands usually drives up the price of properties located near or around these areas.
