With energy prices dropping drastically over the past couple of months, some green home builders are finding that interest in their energy efficient and economical homes has dipped. Builders in Arizona and in California noticed a dip in their homes sales when the cost of oil and gas went down.
Does this mean Green is dead? Is it a better investment to buy a home that is not energy efficient if it is cheaper than a green home?
While oil and gas prices are down now, it most likely will not be for long. Also, the true sustainable and green approach and vision is for long term energy conservation - for the sake of our pocket books and the planet. With that in mind, buying green is by far the most economical choice. Thankfully, many green builders have reduced their prices recently in order to compete with less expensive standard housing.
